26 November, 2025. Recent lectures in Asia have brought global attention to the growing challenge of problematic internet use and the importance of evidence-based solutions. Professor Hans-Jürgen Rumpf spoke at the University of Hong Kong and the University of Macau, presenting treatment advances and sharing insights from the BootStRaP study. His talks highlighted how research in this field is becoming increasingly relevant worldwide.
BootStRaP (Boosting Societal Adaptation and Mental Health in a Rapidly Digitalizing, Post-Pandemic Europe) is a collaborative initiative involving 14 countries and 22 institutions. The project focuses on understanding the impact of problematic internet use among young people, developing effective interventions, and providing recommendations for policy and education systems.
By contributing to academic discussions in Asia, BootStRaP supports the global effort to promote digital well-being and adapt science-driven approaches across different cultural contexts. These steps help shape healthier digital environments for future generations.
