Problematic Use of the Internet Discussed at CINP 2026 in Glasgow

30 June, 2026. Representatives of the BootStRaP participated in the 37th World Congress of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP 2026), held in Glasgow from 26–29 June 2026.

As part of a joint symposium, Prof. Dr. Matthias Brand (University of Duisburg-Essen) presented recent advances in the diagnosis, underlying mechanisms, treatment, and healthcare policy aspects of Problematic Use of the Internet. The symposium also featured Prof. Dr. Naomi A. Fineberg and Dr. Jeremy Solly.

The symposium highlighted current research and clinical developments related to Problematic Use of the Internet, contributing to ongoing international efforts in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and policy development.

The BootStRaP: Boosting Societal Adaptation and Mental Health in a Rapidly Digitalizing, Post-Pandemic Europe is a Europe-wide study uniting scientists from 14 countries and 22 institutions to address and reduce the risks of harmful internet use among teenagers—the online generation. The BootStRaP study follows the success of the European Network for Problematic Usage of the Internet (2018–2022), which significantly advanced global understanding of the links between health, internet use, and problematic behaviors’.
